Kevin Gale, RRFS, CIT, CAT

Kevin graduated from York University in 1993 with an Honours BA in Kinesiology & Health Science. He was a member of the Varsity rugby team, sat on the Student Intramural Recreation Council, was the Athletic chair on the Stong College student government, and was President of the York University Squash Club. Kevin also received the Lily D’Urzo Scholarship Award, graduated on the Dean’s Honour Roll and received the Master’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to College Life.

Since graduating, Kevin has spent most of his career in the recreation field and has worked in both the private sector and for multiple municipalities. After working for the Town of Ajax, the Town of Whitby, Canlan Ice Sports and other private arena facilities, Kevin took the position of Assistant Director of Recreation for the City of Iqaluit. Since moving back from the arctic, Kevin has worked as the Assistant Director of Community Services for the Municipality of Wawa and is currently the Manager of Leisure Facilities for the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, where he has been for the past 5 years.

Kevin has been involved with the ORFA for many years, as a member and in pursuing his professional accreditations. He currently holds CIT, CAT and RRFS designations and is working towards his CRFP designation. Kevin was also featured in the Fall 2017 edition of the ORFA’s Facility Forum magazine, and is currently on the ORFA’s Buildings and Grounds Technical Advisory Committee. Outside of the ORFA, Kevin also possesses certification as a Canadian Playground Inspector, a Curling Ice Technician, and a Certified Pool/Spa Operator. Additionally, Kevin chairs a Facilities Working Group that is comprised of facility supervisors and managers from 11 different municipalities in York Region and Simcoe County.

Kevin has a strong passion for the recreation industry and is a dedicated public servant. He strives to promote a positive, safe and welcoming environment in the facilities that he manages, both for staff and for the public. Kevin is selfless in his endeavours and always has the best interest of the community in mind as he carries out his responsibilities. His experience and passion would make him an excellent choice for the ORFA Board of Directors, where he would strive to continue the tremendous work the association performs and help make positive contributions in advancing the industry forward.
