Naloxone, Harm Reduction & You – The Role You Can Play

During this session, you will learn about Naloxone, and how it can make a difference in an opioid overdose situation. The session will review the current situation relating to opioid overdose in Canada, and provide awareness on how to identify an overdose, and how to administer Naloxone. It will also provide highlight on how you can ensure that you are prepared to address an opioid overdose in your recreation facilities.

Emergency Preparedness for People with Disabilities and Special Needs

Emergencies can happen anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Learn how to protect yourself and cope with disasters by planning ahead. A list of easy to follow steps will be identified in this session to make sure you and your facility patrons are protected in advance.

Cyber - The New Realities for Municipalities

Cyber breaches are becoming common place and news stories continue to feature incidents of private information being stolen or being held hostage in ransomware attacks. It is imperative that municipalities learn to assess their cyber exposure and protect the information they hold. This seminar will discuss the latest trends in cyber breaches and the impact they have on municipalities. It will look at internal and external risk controls to help mitigate loss and the steps to take when a breach has occurred.

Recreation Emergency Management: A Lead Up to FORUM

Recreation facility professionals play a vital role in their local communities by ensuring the infrastructure under their care and control are managed to ensure a safe environment for both patrons and staff. However, over the past many years, these facility operations experts’ knowledge and skills in safety awareness are being tasked to a new level of comprehension and application given increasingly alarming instances of varied emergencies impacting communities and the recreation facilities within them. 

The variety of recreation facility designs combined with aging infrastructure and attacks in public spaces are all raising the risk of recreation emergency events. This session will provide an overview on the four functions of emergency management within the context of the recreation facilities sector.
