2023 SPRING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Professional Development Sessions – Monday May 1, 2023
Public health inspectors are an important part of our industries compliance check and balances. Understanding that not all regions are focused on the same priorities, as well as they may have specific regional issues to be focused on will be addressed. This session will explore how to build a positive relationship with your local public health inspector. Having open communication is essential to success.
The ORFA continues to raise awareness of our lack of preparedness as an industry to effectively respond to a noxious or toxic gas leak in a facility or properly plan to safely offer a community event. This session will explore the different agencies and tools that are available to focus on improving our level of awareness and response.
The Ontario Municipal Health & Safety Professionals Association is a professional, not-for-profit association committed to improving health and safety in municipal workplaces in Ontario. Membership is open to any person who has these responsibilities.
As members focus on grounds operations it is important to reconfirm industry best practices on risk reduction principles for all outdoor recreation infrastructure. What impacts insurance – impacts how we conduct business. This session will explore root causes to the potential for litigation and what needs to be in place to reduce the potential for these types of events. Splash pads, outdoor pools, playgrounds, community festivals are just some of the topics to be covered.
