ORFA/Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors Ontario Branch/Conestoga College Student-Led Indoor Air Quality In Arenas

If you are a director, manager, supervisor or operator of an indoor ice arena in Ontario, you are invited to participate in a student-led research study from Conestoga College’s Bachelor of Environmental Public Health program in partnership with the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) and the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors Ontario Branch (CIPHI).

The study is looking at the air quality of indoor ice arenas in Ontario and will take no longer than 10 minutes. Please complete the survey by February 22nd.

By participating, you can be entered in a draw to win a pass for access to any ORFA online self-directed training events (please refer to https://www.orfa.com/olss) or one of 3 gift cards valued between $15-25. The odds of winning depend on the number of entries received, we expect between 40-100 responses.

Participation is voluntary, and you can freely withdraw from the survey at any time. If you choose to withdraw at any time, any data collected up to that point will be included in the study.

The results of this research will benefit public health and the community by providing a greater understanding of the challenges of air quality in indoor ice arenas to inform others of ongoing trends and potential improvement areas.

The survey data will be stored on a password-protected OneDrive account. No personal information will be collected, and all identifying information (i.e., email) used to participate in the gift card draw will not be associated with your survey responses.

This research project is being completed as part of the course requirements for the Bachelor of Environmental Public Health (Honours) program. Research findings will be presented at the Public Health & Informatics Symposium in April 2024 and may be published in academic journals.
