As seasonal workers join our industry, ORFA reminds members that Ontario workplaces are legally required to provide the following training to their employees:
- Core WHMIS Training - Recommended every year for employees exposed to hazardous substances such as cleaning products, paint, gasoline, etc.
- Workplace Specific Training - Required depending on the work employees perform. Includes training such as, WHMIS, Safe Operation of a Forklift, Working At Heights, or Aerial Work Platforms, Sun Safety and Extreme Weather Awareness.
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) - Required for all employees.
- Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training - Required for all employees.
- Supervisor Competency Training - Required for all supervisors as defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Workplace Violence and Harassment Training - Required for all employees.
It is essential that all workers be provided with the required training as it reflects the commitment of the employers safety culture.
