2024 PRACTICUM IN-PERSON WORKSHOP SERIES

The ORFA continues to invest in ensuring we meet our vision “to be the leader in the recreation facility profession”. As part of this new in-person practical, hands-on workshop delivery, there will be a variety of ORFA corporate partner members who have agreed to work with ORFA and offer a unique educational experience that will include presentations on specific advancements in products and services balanced with a review of industry best practice associated with the subject matter and include an “Open House” at the corporate member location. Collectively this new opportunity will strive to meet our mission “to provide leadership in the development and delivery of innovative training and education programs, value-added services, and quality products for the benefit of the recreation facility profession”.

Refrigeration Plant Room Equipment Maintenance Best Practices

This workshop will include a theoretical presentation on refrigeration maintenance and asset management best practices. The session will review roles and responsibilities in the inspection and maintenance of ice sheet refrigeration plants. Designed for the person who has responsibilities in the maintenance of registered refrigeration plants. It is also an opportunity for members who are planning on updating or purchasing these systems to better understand what to look for when making such a purchase. The day will include a tour of the CIMCO manufacturing plant where participants can hear from in-house CIMCO team experts on how to ensure a trouble-free operational season.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: The CIMCO manufacturing plant tour will require participants to bring and wear personal protective equipment that must include: 

  • Safety vest
  • Protective eye wear
  • Safety boots
  • Head protection

This course is worth 7 professional development credits towards recertification of any ORFA professional designation
