Candidate Profile - Western Region

I’m Jason McEachnie, and I currently serve as the Recreation & Facilities Supervisor for The Township of Zorra, a charming rural municipality nestled within the County of Oxford, just east of London. My journey in the recreation field began in 2005 at what was then known as the John Labatt Centre. My initial role involved converting the venue from hockey games to concert settings - a dynamic experience that I found exhilarating. When the opportunity arose to drive the Zamboni, I eagerly embraced the challenge, dedicating myself to mastering the art of ice making. I honed my skills at the venue over the years and stayed as a part-time role from 2010 until 2019. In 2010 I accepted a full-time position with the County of Brant as a facility operator and lead hand until 2017. This paved the way for my next role at the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, where I continued to advance my career until I accepted my current supervisory position in 2019.

Throughout my extensive career, I have been fortunate to attend several Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) courses and workshops. These experiences have not only enriched my knowledge and skills but also instilled in me the importance of adhering to the highest industry standards. I believe that continuous learning is essential for personal and professional growth, which is why I am passionate about giving back to the community that has supported my development. Serving on the board of directors for ORFA would allow me to contribute to the advancement of our field and ensure that current and future professionals have access to the same opportunities that have positively impacted my career.

Outside of my professional endeavors, I am an avid aviation enthusiast and am proud to be a part of the site operations management team for Airshow London - the largest airshow in Canada. When I'm not at work or attending planning meetings for the airshow, I cherish spending quality time in our backyard with my wife and our dog, Finn, along with embarking on memorable road trips with friends. I greatly look forward to the opportunity to serve on the ORFA board, where I hope to connect with fellow members and support the community that has played a significant role in my growth and success within the recreation field.
